Kaplan Professional works with a range of corporate clients to deliver the Tier 2 RG146 accredited training course, generally to develop the early careers of bank teller and client liaison staff. Kaplan identified the need to redesign the existing online delivery of the course, repackaging the content in a creative, interactive and time-efficient way.
The restructured digital learning solution needed to appeal to a broad audience, using a range of media types to maximise engagement. Over a period of 4 months, Kaplan and HowToo Xpert developed a suite of 15 individual learning packages, each incorporating exploratory interactions and scenario-based learning.
Throughout the suite, the learner “plays” a Customer Liaison Officer and interacts with customers and other characters. Each scenario is presented realistically through photography and voiceovers, helping the learner to better relate to the narrative. This approach improved learners’ memory retention and ability to better understand the consequences of their decision-making. Each package consisted of 20 to 40 screens each, allowing for a more flexible, self-guided learning experience through shorter individual sit-times.
Upon completion of the suite, learners are able to fulfil the key units of competency associated with Tier 2 accreditation. The digital suite offers a more efficient method for learners to achieve key outcomes, including being able to understand relevant legislation and provide professional advice as a financial advisor. Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding how the scenario-based model allows for the practical application of skills and knowledge.
